Claudio Papola

 

Claudio Papola was born in L'Aquila. In 1953 he moves to Milan. In the same year he wins the Graziano Prize at the Galleria dei Navigli in Milan as painter-revelation of 1953. Since then he has been exhibiting in numerous exhibitions and one-man shows in Italy and abroad.
1978 the "Maison de la Culture" in Saint-Etienne organises a one-man show, on that occasion the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Dunkerque buys two of his works.
1982 he is invited to the "Venice International Biennale" and to the exhibition "Dialectic of the image" at the Michetti Foundation in Francavilla.
1985 the city of Ferrara organises a one-man show at "Palazzo dei Diamanti"; the city of L'Aquila does the same in its sixteenth century castle in the Modern Art section; the Ente Festival in Asolo invites him to the exhibition "East and west of the twilight".
2001 another exhibition in the city of La Spezia, at the Allende Center, for the Chatwin Prize.
His work is in the permanent collections of the museums of Caracas, Tel Aviv, Dunkerque, at the Modern Section in the Castle of L'Aquila and in the Castle of Nocciano (Pescara). In Milan his work is exhibited in the Civica raccolta di arte contemporanea. He lives and works at Milan and Pietrasanta.
